Emma Nyra: The Things She Carries
I have random interviews or I’ll be asked to come in to read a script, so I always have basic make up. I also carry my perfume and deodorant because I hug a lot of people. In Nigeria, you find that even if you’re not someone who smells or sweats a lot, you still end up doing those things because it’s so damn hot all the time!
I also have my edge control because I need to make sure my hair is on point. I take a lot of pictures randomly and most of the time they pick pictures that aren’t always flattering, so you have to make sure you have everything you need to look your best. And of course my shades! They kind of add to the element of being an “entertainer”. People like to see you ‘shaded’. Also, sometimes if you don’t feel like putting on make up, you can just do your eyebrows, put on shades and you’re good to go. I also have my Germex (sanitizer), because I shake a lot of hands and don’t want to pick up any unnecessary bacteria (slight germophobe here). Jewelry of course, because it can always step up your outfit.
The reason why I carry a passport (which is totally not a good idea) is because sometimes we have random shows and you never know when you have a booking and need to travel. You can’t afford to miss any opportunities or shows, especially because I prefer concerts- that’s the only time my fans get to hear me sing. Most people assume I can’t sing that well because of the genre of music I produce, but I’m working on some R&B at the moment to show off my voice a bit more.
Sometimes interviews run really long and I just need to eat. I usually have Ribena in here but I already drank that this morning! I carry them because I need all the energy I can get, you can’t always get to proper food when you’re on the go.
It’s funny because I’m just noticing that I’m obsessed with red as I’m looking through my purse. It’s everywhere! My skin gets ashy just like everyone else’s and I’m really into Marc Jacob’s Dot scent at the moment. Last but not least, lipgloss and my grills (I wear those at the club) are the perfect match for me. So what don’t I have in here? A baby!
