Abuja Hotels To Submit List Of Guests To Security Agencies Daily

Embarks on operation know your neighbor campaign

In his determination to ensure that lives and property are better secured in FCT, the Minister of FCT, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has directed all hotels in the Federal Capital Territory to forward the list of their guests to the FCT Directorate of State Security Services (SSS) and the FCT Police Command on a daily basis.

The hotels are equally required to install their individual security cameras within their vicinity and ensure thorough check of all vehicles entering the hotel and within their surroundings.

The Minister has also directed all residents and residents associations in various parts of the territory to embark on “operation know your neighbor” campaign. The measure is to ensure that all criminally-minded elements are detected easily within the FCT.

The security department of FCTA is to liaise with the various security agencies in the FCT on the modalities for implementing the ministerial directive.

The Minister directed all traditional rulers in the FCT to, as a matter of necessity, start conducting periodic meetings with various communities within their domains to take stock of strange faces living with them, as well as report all new comers within 48 hours to the local DPO and SSS office. This is in furtherance of “operation know your neighbor” campaign.

He enjoined all FCT residents to be vigilant and cautious of strange objects or movements of persons, vehicles around them, as well as stationary vehicles. They should report same to the nearest security agencies.

The Minister further directed that all trailers/lorry operators bringing goods to the city shall no longer be allowed to offload their contents at night. All offloading shall henceforth be done in the day time under supervision in designated places.

The directive requires owners of uncompleted and abandoned buildings and structures without security guards to provide same. Failure to do so, the FCT Administration would apply appropriate sanctions.

Similarly, owners plots of land left fallow for a long period of time and not used for any economic or gainful purpose but taken over by criminals would now face appropriate sanctions.

The Minister reminded residents that the ban on smoking of Indian hemp and other narcotic substances is still in force in the territory adding that the Administration had resolved to clamp down on violators.

Security Forces Burst Boko Haram Intelligence Network

Security forces have bust a Boko Haram intelligence cell headed by a businessman, Babuji Ya’ari, who participated actively in the abduction of over 200 school girls in Chibok in April, 2014.

Ya’ari who is also a member of the Youth Vigilante Group popularly known as Civilian JTF which he used as cover while remaining an active terrorist, also spearheaded the murder of the Emir of Gwoza.

A statement by the Director, Defense Information, Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade in Abuja on Monday, said the suspect’s main role in the group was to spy and gather information for the terrorists group.

“Babuji has been coordinating several deadly attacks in Maiduguri since 2011, including the daring attacks on Customs and military locations as well as the planting of IEDs in several locations in the town,” it said.

Olukolade said the arrest of the businessman who is known to deal in tricycles, has also yielded some vital information and facilitated the arrest of other members of the terrorists’ intelligence cell who are women.

He stated that one of them, Hafsat Bako had earlier escaped to Gombe State to avoid suspicion but was tracked and arrested.

According to him, prior to her arrest, Bako coordinated the payment of other operatives on the payroll of the group, adding that in her confession, she disclosed that a minimum of N10,000 is paid to each operative depending on the enormity of his task.

Olukolade said, “Another female suspect named Haj Kaka who doubles as an armourer and a spy for the terrorists group has also been arrested.

“Until their arrest, all the suspects actively operated a terrorists’ intelligence cell in collaboration with others still at large.”

In another development, troops deployed in Goniri, Yobe State, had an encounter with terrorists, resulting in casualties on both sides after the attack was successfully repelled.

144 Out Of 486 "Boko Haram Suspects" Freed In Abia

Military have reportedly released 144 out of the 486 travelers arrested more than a week ago in Abia State on suspicion of being linked with the dreaded Boko Haram sect, Premium Times report.

The people conveyed in numerous buses were detained in Aba along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, as they were making their way from the country north.
Later, defence spokesperson Chris Olukolade claimed that among the suspects they had identified a notorious Boko Haram kingpin, who allegedly disclosed the important information. In several days journalists discovered that 86 more detainees were identified as suspected terrorists.
Yesterday, June 25, the Coordinator of the National Information Centre Mike Omeri said that 144 people had been freed by the military following the preliminary examination. The official also stated they would inform people and media about further development of the investigation.
It would be recalled that the arrest caused violent discussions among Nigerians with many doubting the operation validity and claiming that those detained were simply traders who had nothing to do with Boko Haram.
Shortly after the incident Kano authorities also made a move to ensure release of their residents captured in Aba. However Olukolade, without providing any extra details, said the screening was still in process and urged people to wait until the investigation was completed.

NDLEA arrests 11 school children over drug abuse and trafficking

Eleven secondary school students and a hotel manager were recently arrested in Kaduna by officials of the Kaduna State National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, after being caught in in a hotel taking Psychotropic substances.

NDLEA Kaduna State Commander, Mohammed Jibrin made this revelation at The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking programme which held in Kaduna yesterday, June 24th.

Mr Jibrin said the students comprising of seven girls and four boys were arrested following a tip off, adding that eight of the students arrested were still in Junior Secondary school. He said parents of the students arrested have been invited for questioning and counseling while the hotel manager is still under investigation.

According to eyewitnesses, a large explosion occurred at a shopping mall, around the popular Banex plaza in the Wuse 2 district of Abuja. Sources say there are body parts scattered around the scene of the blast.

The bomb was said to have exploded at about 4pm. Many cars are still on fire as the time of reporting. Those from the emergency services have arrived the scene for rescue and evacuation. This is third deadly explosion in the Nigerian capital in two months.

The extremist Boko Haram sect claimed responsibility for the two explosions in April and May in Nyanya, Abuja. See video below....

Luiz Suarez bites another football player in Brazil World Cup

In August 2013, Liverpool player and Uruguay Forward, Luiz Suarez bit Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic during a match in Anfield, an action that got him benched for 10 matches afterwhich he apologized.

Fast forward 10 months later and he's done it again. During the Italy-Uruguay match that took place this evening June 24th, Suarez appeared to bite Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini's shoulder.

Suarez is seen chasing Giorgio for the ball and then suddenly both men fall to the ground, with Suarez clutching his teeth as if in pain while Chiellini pulls his shirt down to show the referee the bite marks on his shoulder. Unfortunately the referee didn't see the attack so didn't penalize Suarez but thankfully cameras captured it and people expect Suarez to be sanctioned again.

This is months after Suarez and his club manager claimed he'd changed his ways.

Female Custom Officer Buried Alive with Her Daughter: The Man Who Did It Confesses

The Lagos State Police Command on Monday paraded a 64-year-old native doctor,  Alhaji Olatunji Azeez, who confessed to have killed a retired customs officer, Mrs. Angela Kerry and her 10-year-old adopted daughter, Obiagulum, on May 10, 2014.

Alhaji Azeez, an Oyo State indigene with three wives and five children, said he was forced to kill the customs officer and her daughter after she threatened to kill him over a sum of money.

He explained: “I have been a trado-medical doctor for about 30 years, but I knew Angela over five years ago. She initially came to me for protection from family attacks. One of her friends called Lizzy introduced her to me. The relationship began to grow, and she kept patronising me for one thing or the other.
“Then, about three years ago, she mentioned her barreness problem, adding that the daughter that was with her was adopted. I was shocked. But when she told me her age, I told her it was impossible to make her pregnant. But she insisted that prophets in the churches she went had assured her she would get pregnant...

According to Punch, Azeez later lied to the woman that she would get pregnant and collected N9m from her for the job.

Azeez said, “I did the normal concoction for her, but it didn’t work because of her age. But I collected the money because I knew if I did not, she would go to where they would collect it. After some months without result, she came to my place to complain. She then demanded a refund, but I told her that I could not repay it.

"She then began to threaten me. Within a month, I tried to repay N2.5m. On that fateful week, she came back for the remaining N6.5m. It was Saturday, May 17. She came with her daughter and insisted that she wanted her balance. She said as a retired customs officer, she could kill me if I didn’t pay back the money. Then I thought, I must kill this woman before she killed me. The hole at the back of my house was not built for killing. It was dug for drainage during rainfallss.”

Azeez confessed that he went to the backyard, covered the hole with a white cloth that Angela normally saw in another shrine in his house.

He said, “After we talked, we moved with her daughter to the place. I said she should kneel down on the mat with her daughter. She did so and fell into the pit with her daughter. The operation was successful because no member of my family was around in the house. I then began to cover the pit up with sand. I poured in roughly 50 buckets of sand. The following day, I got two bricklayers to cement the portion. But I had first taken out the belongings she brought.”

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Umar Manko, stated that the police had concluded their investigations on the case, adding that the native doctor was going to be charged to court for murder.

He said, “The woman and her daughter were reported missing on May 10 at the Oko Oba Police Division by the family.

“Azeez was eventually arrested through a tracking device installed on the victim’s Toyota Camry. Azeez, an herbalist, had hypnotized the woman for a long time. He had taken over N200m from her both in cash and property. We discovered he cleverly constructed a well in his house, lured the woman with her daughter into the room, and buried them alive.

“We were able to recover the decomposed bodies of the victims from the well. We also picked their property which was buried along with them. We have finished our investigations, and he will be charged to court for murder. We will leave the rest to be decided by the court.”

"That was a lie. People just cook up stories from nowhere and some other people will just believe them. They didn't see me for a while and they started peddling rumors about me. I had to give more time to my relationship to make sure I nurtured it away from the public eyes as much as I could. I took an inadvertent break to focus on my relationship. Being a career woman is great and I was lucky to have some success at it. 60 Girls Reportedly Abducted in Borno State Today

The twitter handle of the Nigerian Television Authority, is reporting that sicty girls were kidnapped by insurgence in Kummabza village, in Damboa LGA in Borno state.

About sixty girls between the ages of 3-12 years have been abducted by insurgents in Kummabza village of Damboa local government area of Borno State. Reports from the area indicates that the insurgents also killed about thirty people and destroyed property worth millions of naira during an attack on the community, residents of the village are taking refuge in Lassa and Gulak in Adamawa State. They appealed to the authorities to provide them with shelter and relief materials to reduce their sufferings.

2face Idibia slams N100million lawsuit against Icon magazine for libel

2face Idibia has slammed a N100million suit against soft-sell magazine, Icon Weekly, for libel. The Media/Entertainment Law Firm of L & A- Legal Consultants has filed libel proceedings on behalf of  2face, at the Ikeja High Court asking the court to award their client the sum of N100million being damages for the libelous publication posted on the magazine’s online and print platforms.

In March this year, Icon alleged that tuface committed adultery by impregnating a 'Lagos top banker' who is supposedly his account officer in one of the new generation banks and that infact, the lady had every intention of keeping the baby. The story went viral, which 2face later denied.

A source close to the music icon said the story, which was found to be false, made 2face lose a very lucrative deal and caused ripples between him and his wife. Icon weekly is said to have approached 2face’s team for discussions on a possible out of court settlement.

WHAT! Fraudster Withdraws N1.9m Through ATM Within A Week

In apparent reflection of the rising incidence of electronic payment fraud, a fraudster withdrew N1.9 million from  the bank account of a customer through ATM in one week.

This was disclosed by  Tam Tamunokonbia, Head, Consumer Protection Council, Lagos Office.  Speaking at the maiden summit of Bank Customers Association of Nigeria (BCAN) in Lagos last week, he said that ATM fraud is one of the commonest complaints received by the Council  from bank customers.

Reportedly, he said in addition to this are: Illegal bank charges as against the minimum re-discount rate; Non-disclosure of terms and conditions by Banks and financial service providers; Mobile Payment Systems – online trading and Improper cheque verification.

Citing example of these complaints, he said, “A lady’s N1.9 million withdrawn in one week without alert – case in Enugu High Court. A Company was charged in excess of N1, 984,662.40, another in excess of N592, 681 .61, and  another in excess of N552,597.01.”

He said the general responses of banks to complaints against ATM fraud are:  “Customer compromised PIN numbers. Camera footage could not be generated.We are investigating and will get back.” On complaints of excess bank charges,he said banks’ responses are: The customer signed an agreement; The customer was given the form;  It is an error etc.”

Consequently,Tamunokonbia advised that: “Banks should respect the customer’s rights to disclosure; Banks should provide written terms and conditions in simple language and legible words; Charges and fees should be made known to customers before opening their accounts – no hidden charges;  change in terms and conditions should be adequately disclosed to customers – prior notice; Statement of Accounts to be provided to customers at regular intervals; applicable interest rates, how it is calculated and when to apply the rates should be made known to consumers; terms and conditions to be in line with prevailing laws; avoid Council’s summons and prosecution – Section 12, 18 and 21 of the CPC Act, CAP C25, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.”

A Mexican football who had been toasting the success of his team at the World Cup jumped to his doom from a cruise liner as he tried to impress a fellow female passenger.He reportedly cried out 'Look at me!' before jumping to his death.
Jorge Alberto Lopez Amores, 28, was on the deck of the cruise liner MSC Divina when he plunged over the railings into the ocean below last Wednesday.Pepe Guardilo, a fellow passenger, said:

'I saw him chatting up a pretty female journalist aboard the ship. He was animated, a result of too much booze and the team doing so well so far in the tournament.I heard him say to her: 'I am so happy that I can fly! Look at me!' And with that he stuck his arms out and dived overboard.The ship was moving at a fair clip and he vanished into the foam created in the ship's wake.By the time the ship had stopped and turned around, he was nowhere to be seen.

Shocked passengers alerted the ship's crew which slowed the massive vessel and turned it around to look for him.But the manoeuvre took over an hour and by the time the ship had returned to the spot where he took his dive he was nowhere to be seen.

The son of a wealthy lawyer, Mr Amores was one of 3,000 people aboard the ship that is cruising around Brazil, taking in football matches en-route.
Brazil's coastal waters are filled with dangerous currents not to mention sharks, with government officials in some coastal areas increasing lifeguard numbers and erecting signs in English to warn World Cup tourists about sharks.
Although the Brazilian navy has joined in the hunt for Mr Amores, the chances of him being found alive are slim.

Boko Haram Kills 40 In Fresh Attack, Suicide Bomber Kills 3 Soldiers In Borno

Three soldiers were reportedly killed yesterday June 22nd after a suicide bomber suspected to be from the Boko Haram sect attacked a military post near a Secondary school in Gwoza, Borno state.

According to Vanguard reports, the suicide bomber drove through Wala and Warabe villages before getting to the military post where the bomb detonated and a loud sound immediately followed, with the vehicle the suicide bomber rode in and other things in the attack scene destroyed.

One of the residents of the area, Mallam Usman Yaro who spoke with Vanguard said residents of the area were still asleep when the bomb detonated. Continue..

“We were woken up with a bomb blast on the road near the school, some of us started to run for safety while others fled into the school and hill tops of Gwoza. I cannot tell you the exact casualties but three soldiers fell on the road side while others took to their heels for safety, as the car that contained explosives ripped into pieces to create a deep crater near the post. In a related development, suspected Boko Haram men over the weekend attacked Chuha A Chuha B and Korongilim villages in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, killing 40 people including teenagers. According to one of the community leaders, Mallam Yakubu Joshua, the attack which lasted 5 hours, started 7am

 “Some suspected Boko Haram terrorists invaded Chuha A, Chuha B and Korongilim villages of Chibok council of Borno State and killed over 40 persons. The terrorists injured many other villagers, burnt many houses and made away with our foodstuff. The attack, which commenced at 7a.m. yesterday lasted over five hours before military intervened. I and some other residents of Chibok had made several telephone calls to the military, unfortunately they (military) only started bombing the surrounding area of the attack after over 40 members of our community had been killed. The lifeless bodies of our people are still littered in the three villages as I speak, but our present fear is that many innocent villagers may be hit by the ongoing bombings by the military.” he said

Tuface Idibia's father starts treatment for cancer

Yes. I have thought of that but then, my man will love me for me because he is my man and my profession won’t make him love me less. A lawyer or banker is not better than an actress because every work place has its own negative part. Nigerians really need to be enlightened; acting is make belief and not all actresses are wayward. In fact, they make good wives.

Do men get intimidated by your size?
Yes. Some men actually get intimidated but I don’t blame them anyway.

What if your man asks you to stop acting?
When we get to that bridge, we will cross it. The man hasn’t come yet, but if he wants me to stop acting, he should better have a Plan B that will wow me.

Nigerian Pastor Impregnates Over 20 Church Members, Says Its A Prophetic Message

Enugu police officials have arrested a randy pastor identified as Timothy Ngwu, the GO of Vineyard Ministry of the Holy Trinity located at Ihe-Owerre in Nsukka, Enugu state.

According to report, before his arrest on Friday, the self acclaimed Pastor, who said he was obeying God’s command, has put no less than 20 members of his church including married women and teenagers inn a family way.

It was gathered that Ngwu does not spare married women in his evil act. The spokesman of the Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, DSP, disclosed that “the pastor claims to be obeying prophetic/spiritual injunction to do the will of God, which is to impregnate any one chosen and revealed by the Holy Spirit, irrespective of whether the woman is married or not.

“When the woman is delivered of the baby, the child remains in the ministry with the mother for life”.

Amaraizu added that “Vineyard Ministry of the Holy Trinity, located at Umudikwere, Ihe/Owere Nsukka in Enugu was not known until DSP Gloria Udoka and her operatives from the Anti Child Trafficking unit of the state criminal and investigation department, stormed the place based on the complaint they received from wife of the Pastor, Veronica Ngwu, bordering on sexual abuse of people in the ministry, which has brought about indiscriminate pregnancy among married and single women in the ministry.

“According to Veronica, her husband used to be a well known catechist in Nsukka Catholic”.
It was further disclosed that while acting under the same alleged will of God, the Pastor got his wife’s niece pregnant.

“Some of the members’ wives are now living with him after he impregnated all of them”, the statement added.

Reacting to the allegations against him, the General Overseer stated that he has about five wives with thirteen children, apart from other concubines, who came as a result of the prophetic will of God.

He claimed that he does not do anything with any married woman until full consent and agreement is reached between him and the husband in line with the directives of the holy Spirit.

Two of the women, who had left their husband and are now living with the General Overseer, Calista Omeje, and Assumpta Odo confirmed that they left their husband and went to the General Overseer based on the prophetic injunction to do the will of God.
Calista revealed that she is married to her husband with ten children, and that she was impregnated by Timothy, though the baby later died.

She further disclosed that she also gave her daughter out to the General Overseer to be impregnated in fulfillment of will of God.

Assumpta Odo also confirmed the development, pointing out that she is also married with eight children and that the pastor impregnated her as well as her daughter.
