Lenovo Denies Endorsement Deal With Iyanya

Quite funny and embarrassing at the same time. Few days back Iyanya took to his Instagram page to announce bagging a new ambassadorship deal with Chinese giant, Lenovo. Well, according to TheNetng‘s investigation, it is totally false and this is what they are reporting

On February 6, 2014 Iyanya Mbuk announced to the world that he had bagged an endorsement deal, with yet another tech company, Lenovo. NET investigations show that the Pop singer’s purported endorsement deal might be totally fabricated.

Iyanya’s manager when reached on the phone confirmed the deal, claiming they made about N150M – N170M from the deal. ‘It’s true, it cost about N150 to N170 million and the duration is for 24 months’, Ubi Franklin told a NET correspondent over the phone.

While the Pop singer received congratulatory messages from fans across the world and several blogs reported the story, NET made investigations over the signing and discovered that there might never have been one, as Lenovo says they don’t know anything about the deal.

The news of the signing was quite surprising and puzzling: why would a PC/tablet/Smartphone producing company sign Iyanya who is currently a double ambassador for PC producing company Zinox Computers and smartphone company SOLO Phone? Wouldn’t there be conflicts of interest?

NET also reached out to Iyanya and Made Men Music Group label publicist over the signing, who unconvincingly explained to our reporter that Zinox Computers acts as a parent company to Lenovo in Nigeria.

Just as you guessed, that doesn’t make sense.

Lenovo is a Chinese multinational technology company with headquarters in Beijing, China, and Morrisville, North Carolina, United States. The company’s gross revenue in 2012 was $29.57b. In 2005, Lenovo acquired IBM’s personal computer business and in 2014 have agreed to acquire the mobile phone handset maker Motorola Mobility from Google for $2.91bn. We’re just trying to say they are ‘big boys’ in the tech world.

It is worthy of note that there was no official statement from Lenovo or photos from the alleged signing unlike with Zinox and SOLO Phones.

Skimming through the official Lenovo website, we noticed that the Nigerian section of the web page redirects to the South African page. NET contacted Lenovo South Africa who then directed us to a rep in Nigeria named Mr Olumide. Lenovo SA also say they are not aware of the deal.

Olumide told our editors over the phone that he was not aware of any signing with Iyanya and told us to call back.

‘I can’t really say on that. I don’t know anything; I don’t know who he is. Honestly I don’t know anything, maybe you should call him and ask him yourself’, Olumide told our correspondent over the telephone.

NET also reached Zinox Computers via e-mail and telephone but didn’t get any response from them. An e-mail sent to consultants for SOLO Phone was not replied neither was are text message responded to.

Further questions sent to Iyanya’s publicist over the signing via e-mail were not answered.

Interestingly, NET discovered that Zinox recently opened a new online and retail outlet in Gbagada, Lagos called Task Direct. According to the company’s Corporate Communications Adviser Uche Nnadozie, Zinox will sell tech products from brands like Dell, Lenovo, HP, Zinox, APC, Samsung, among others. Apparently, that’s as far as Iyanya’s ‘relationship with Lenovo goes.

Punch Newspaper reports that Zinox ambassador Iyanya will attend the grand opening of the store.

‘There’s no signing, Iyanya is just trying to bounce some hype around and get some mentions online, which he did‘, a source in MMMG camp tells NET…

P-Square

[MADNESS] Woman desperate for dimples pays $2500 to get her cheeks pierced

Lol. Every day, another weird story. Trained lawyer Cherrelle Campbell (pictured above before and after her procedure) paid $2,500 to undergo dimpleplasty on both cheeks to get the dimples she's always wanted.
A Cheryl Cole fan has spent £1,500 on having dents punched into her cheeks in a bid to recreate the popstar's famous dimples. Cherelle, a trainee lawyer, says that she has always admired dimples but was upset not to have any of her own.

'I've always loved dimples [but] I wasn't blessed to be given big ones,' she explained, adding that she wants hers 'to make me look like Cheryl Cole'. 'When God was giving out dimples I was at the back of the queue. I find myself on the street or watching TV and anyone with dimples stands out to me.' But getting her dream dimples came at a cost. Dimpleplasty surgery costs thousands of pounds and involves having holes punched into the cheeks using a scalpel.
Once the hole has been created, the new dimple is stitched into place. 'I was online with my friend and we were basically having a joke as to what procedures you could do and you couldn't do, and I was like: "wow, I didn't know you could have your dimples done",' adds Cherelle. I gave it a bit of thought, contacted them and here I am.' She added: 'I want really deep ones so every time I smile, they're there and I'm glad it's for life as well. It's not something I'm going to have to repeat which is good.'

Cherelle, who appears in Channel 4 documentary Bodyshockers: My Piercing Hell, was also filmed having the procedure and inspecting the eventual results. Speaking of her new dimples in a scene from the programme, she said: 'I was impressed as I didn't think they were going to be that deep, it's mixed feelings. Once it has healed, I know I will love it.' Once the surgery healed, after two weeks, the dimples became much less noticeable. 'The dimples are subtle and only visible when I smile,' Cherelle told Mail Online today.

She surely got more than she bargained for.

Man Killed A Cobra In His Toilet Not Knowing It Was His Landlord

Read the testimony of a man Pastor Adeboye shared on his Facebook page.

”A man moved from his one room apartment to a three bedroom flat, but unknowingly the new landlord is a member of a secret cult that specialises in causing miscarriages for his tenant’s wives, making businesses hard for tenants, killing tenants family members through accidents and snake bites.

But this young man moved in with his wife, prayed and behold in the night he wanted to use the toilet because there was no light, but immediately he entered the toilet the light came back on and as he looked at the toilet seat, what he saw was a cobra waiting for him to sit.

He shouted and started praying before they eventually killed it and burnt it to ashes.

The next day the landlord died in his flat from machete cuts and traces of fire burns on his skin.

*So I tell you today, any landlord, any agent, any form of evil that is against your life and
destiny will be exposed to you and killed In Jesus Name’

Hotel Selling Cooked Human Meat Found In Onitsha

According to Osun Defender, Onitsha police arrested 11 people after they discovered 2 fresh human heads in a hotel (name withheld) very close to the popular Ose-Okwodu market in Anambra state on Thursday.

2 AK47 rifles and other weapons were also discovered in the hotel. The arrest followed tip-offs from area residents on Thursday morning.

The hotel owner, 6 women and 4 men were arrested. After police got access to the hotel, they made a startling discovery of two human heads wrapped in a cellophane bag, two AK47 rifles, two army caps, 40 rounds of live ammunition and so many cell phones.

“Each time I came to market, because the hotel is very close to the market, I always noticed funny movements in and out of the hotel; dirty people with dirty characters always come into the hotel.

So, I was not surprised when the police made this discovery in the early hours of yesterday,” said a vegetable seller in the area.

A Pastor who was among the people who tipped off the police on Thursday said: “I went to the hotel early this year, after eating, I was told that a lump of meat was being sold at N700, I was surprised.

So I did not know it was human meat that I ate at such expensive price.”

Wande Coal Opens Up On Mavin Records Separation

Wande Coal Speaking recently with Encomium Magazine, reveals why he left Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records, his five year-old son and of course his multimillion Naira deal with Telecom giant Globacom.

Read excerpts

How were you introduced to Glo?

I have been doing shows for Glo for close to four years. So, I have been in a relationship with them before I was signed.

The deal must be so juicy for you to come on board?

I thank God for where I’m coming from. At the end of the day, it is all about growth.

How much were you paid?

I won’t disclose that, please. But it is huge. It is a two-year contract.

What would you say you have enjoyed so far working with Glo?

Working with one of the biggest brands in Africa is really a privilege. There are a whole lot of advantages. If you go out there, you would see my billboards. At the end of the day, I will feature in some of their commercials on global TV like CNN, among other privileges. That’s good enough. It will make me work harder. It is a testimony and a dream come true.

But you are not going to be doing collaborations with artistes endorsed by Glo competitors?

That is not true. You can collabo with different artistes irrespective of the brands they represent. As far as you are not out of the Glo umbrella.

Does meeting D’Banj, your former label boss at Mo’Hit at Glo invoke any nostalgia?

It is a family. We are brothers. I’m happy to meet him here. D’Banj is a big brother to me.

What is Wande Coal bringing into Glo?

I’m bringing in a lot through my music. I’m going to be talking about the brand in my songs, even in my forthcoming album.

How has it been since you left Mavin Records?

I have learnt to do things on my own. It is now a different ball game. I can now diversify.

In your sober moments, do you regret leaving Don Jazzy?

If you want me to be real, Don Jazzy is like a father to me. But like you married and left your mom and dad, life must go on. I’m happy that my brand name, Black Diamond is now a reality. I’m rather grateful to God for the opportunity to actualize my dream.

But are you missing anything at all, like missing some of your folks there?

I’m not missing anything. What do you want me to miss? I still love them. That is me. I don’t discriminate. I just love them all.

What is your relationship with Don Jazzy at the moment?

We are cool. We are just cool.

No ill-feelings?

Why? I can’t fight Don Jazzy now. It is not possible.

How far have you gone with your long delayed sophomore album?

My album is almost ready. The reason for the delay was because one artiste had to wait for another before he is released. D’Banj did his album; Wande Coal followed and Dr. Sid. So, I had to wait for D’Banj’s album. After D’Banj, it should have been me but the company, Mo’Hit packed up. And now, it is Black Diamond.

It was not a bad idea that Black Diamond was conceived, but all the noise, drama and controversy was it necessary?

No. But at the end of the day, it just happened.

Was it your fault?

How is it going to be my fault? I did everything based on love. I didn’t sign any contract in Mavin. And I was very obedient. So, I don’t know why I should now be blamed.

Why would you be on a label without contract?

I signed a contract in Mo’Hit. But sometimes, you have to look before you leap. If you like what is on ground, you sign. If not what you want, you move on.

Can you still do a collabo with Don Jazzy and D’Banj?

I can work with anybody I wish to work with now. It is just business.

From Mushin to Black Diamond, what are you most grateful to God so far?

I thank God for everything. I’m happy I’m still relevant in the industry. At the end of the day, I would release this album on Black Diamond label. Don’t forget I inspired a lot of young artistes like Wizkid, Davido. I hope I can still do more as I plan to sign new artistes very soon.

Can you still perform all the songs you recorded with Don Jazzy?

Yes, all through the festive period, I performed all my songs.

We are still asking why you left Mavin?

At the end of the day, I just wanted growth. That’s all, no beef.

But some alleged you were sort of taking sides with D’Banj?

That is not true. Let me tell you the truth, D’Banj was even the one I hurt most when I decided to remain with Don Jazzy. We were very close but I went to Jazzy. How then could it be because of D’Banj? Did you hear that Wande Coal signed with DKM? I’m just doing my thing. So, I didn’t take sides. I love everybody.
Would the wedding bell toll for you anytime soon?

Maybe. In four years time.

So, would you say you have been happy in your relationship?

I thank God.

Would we be surprised if your love child emerges tomorrow?

I already have a five year-old son. I have been keeping it for a while. I had him since 2008 before I released my album.

What is his name?

Coal Junior.

And what is your relationship with your baby mama?

That is private.
