Soyinka Denies Endorsing Any Candidate

Professor Wole Soyinka has warned those spreading rumours about him endorsing President Goodluck Jonathan and some governorship candidate should deceit from spreading the lies because he never for once endorsed any candidate. Soyinka stated this in a piece titled ‘Identity Thieves and the 2015 Election Peace Accord.’ His words;

“Let me thus seize the occasion of the Abuja accord to state categorically that I have never made a statement endorsing any presidential or governorship contestant. All such attributions are fabrications by faceless, often self-appointed agents of deception, and should be publicly pilloried.

“Whenever I choose to declare support for a candidate – as is my electoral right – I shall ensure that I deploy a medium that places my authorship beyond dispute,” he said.

Two days ago, he went to a nearby chemist to buy some drugs for his mom who was having severe pains. As he got to the Chemist, the pharmacist wasn't there so Mister Iheme, out of fear of saving his dying mother's life, hurriedly collected a few drugs worth about 90 naira, less than a dollar. As he was about walking out, the pharmacist stepped in, "Thief, Thief", he shouted. Before Mister Iheme could know it, he had been surrounded and beaten like a highway criminal.

So a man alleged to be a thief was caught and beaten today in Calabar by some soldiers after allegedly stealing from a woman. A website who reported this said the man bought short knickers from a woman for N500 and immediately she put the money in her purse, the N500 and all the money there disappeared. She then shouted and soldiers around help her catch the man and asked him to confess.

SDP Governorship Candidate In Adamawa Dies

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Reverend Hakila Yerima, has died. Hakila who intends to rule Adamawa died on the 6th of January, 2015 of a liver related disease after picking the party’s governorship ticket on the 6th of December, 2014.

He however wrote the party few days to his death of his intention to withdrawing from the race due to failing health before passing away few days after the letter.

Police Find Man’s Head In Ebute Meta, Body In Surulere

The Police in Lagos State have recovered the mutilated remains of a man, identified only as Christmas, which were dumped at two different areas of the state.

Punch Metro learnt that the victim’s head was found at Olokodana junction in the Ebute Meta area, while his body was recovered in Alaka, Surulere, on Wednesday.

It was gathered that the identities of Christmas’ killers were, however, yet to be unravelled by the police.


A lodger, who was passing by the junction around 7am, was said to have raised the alarm, having discovered the head in a pool of blood.
