21 INEC Commissioners Reject Postponement Of Elections + The Full Report Of The Just Concluded Meeting

Any moment from now INEC Chairman, Mr Jega will brief the media if the election will be holding on the 14th of February or not. In the meantime, 21 INEC commissioners have rejected the postponement of the elections. But Military and security chiefs at the meeting stood their grounds that the elections must be postponed.  While we await Mr Jega’s final decision, below is the outcome of the meeting held this evening by INEC, party leaders and security chiefs as reported by Premium Times.

Twenty one Resident Electoral Commissioners, RECs, of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, have rejected a proposal to postpone Nigeria’s general elections billed for February 14 and 28.

It Will Be Too Bad If INEC Compromises And Postpone The Elections – Buhari

The All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari in an interview published on Reuters on Friday has said it will be too bad if the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, allows itself to be compromised to shift the general election or allow irregularities in the voting process. According to Buhari he is very optimistic that he will be winning the forthcoming election.

“I’m optimistic that I won’t lose. But we signed an undertaking that it will be violence – free. We are attempting to stabilise a multi – party democratic system.

“There will be no delay. But if INEC is compromised then it will be too bad,” Buhari said.

Nigerian Army Captain Who Leaked Ekiti Poll Tape Speaks Further

According to Premium Times, a Nigerian Army Captain, who leaked the audio evidence of how some top officials of the Federal Government and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, used the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to rig the governorship election in Ekiti and Osun States last year, has spoken out about the matter.

In a statement entitled: “How Nigerian Army personnel were used to rig Ekiti and Osun States Gubernatorial Elections 2014″, Captain Sagir Koli gave details of all that transpired between himself, his commanding officer, two ministers and some politicians prior to the elections in Ekiti state.

Poly Student Who Stole Laptop & Jailed For Two Years Is Back Again In Prison For Stealing Another One

A 30-year-old student of Lagos State Polytechnic, Isolo campus, western Nigeria, who regained freedom after spending two years in prison custody at Kirikiri, has returned to the same prison for the same offence two months after he regained freedom.

The convict, Bolarinwa Oluwafemi, was earlier sentenced to two years imprisonment for stealing a laptop by the Mushin Magistrate’s court after he pleaded guilty.

For committing the second crime, he was jailed for 18 months without an option by Ijeshatedo Magistrate’s court.

Oyo State-born Oluwafemi was arrested and charged to court by the police after he went to LUTH and stole a laptop belonging to a student, Adaku Agim, worth N83,000.

Where Will It Come From: NNPC, Others To Refund $1.48bn Missing Oil Funds

An audit ordered by the Federal Government has revealed that a minimum sum of $1.48bn is due to the federation account from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC).

The NNPC and the NPDC have been indicted by the report, which was ordered by Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala after allegations of misappropriation were made by the former Central bank Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.

The major contents of the report were revealed on Thursday, February 5, by the Auditor General for the Federation,Samuel Ukura, in Abuja.

Nigerian Footballer Bags 2-Years Jailed Drugs Trafficking

Henry Umeh A Nigerian footballer based in Brazil, is to spend exactly two years in prison after he was convicted for drug trafficking.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, had arrested Umeh on 6 October, 2014, at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos, during the inward clearance of an Emirate Airline flight from Brazil, with about 15 grammes of cocaine recovered from him.

While delivering his judgement, the trial judge, Justice Mohammed Idris, educated the footballer on the negative effects of drugs, irrespective of its usage. He therefore sentenced the accused after he pleaded guilty to a one-count charge preferred against him by the drug busting agency.

INEC To Decide Tomorrow If Elections Will Hold Next Week Or Not

The pressure of shifting the forthcoming polls on INEC is yet to be over. In a statement released today by Kayode Idowu, the spokesperson for INEC Chairmain, Attahiru Jega, Mr Kayode made it known that INEC  has fixed separate meetings with chairmen and secretaries of all registered political parties, and resident electoral commissioners (RECs) for Saturday to decide whether to go ahead with the general elections scheduled for February 14 and 28.

According to him, the Commission will brief the nation on its decision with regard to whether or not the general elections will hold as currently scheduled.

68-Year-Old Killed By Gang After Hitting Man With Fetish Ring In Lagos

A gang in the Ketu area of Lagos State has tortured to death a 68-year-old man, Nasirudeen Ajawesola, for allegedly hitting a resident of the area with a fetish ring. It was gathered that the resident, who could not be identified as of press time, subsequently fell unconscious. The incident happened on Osokoya Street, Ketu.

The police were, however, able to apprehend a member of the group, Abiola Ogunmola, who was the elder brother of the resident. PUNCH Metro gathered that on the fateful day, the deceased’s first son, a vulcaniser, had ran home to call his father to report that he was being forced to participate in a community work going on in the area.

Things people do in the world today ehn! Wonders shall never seize. Or as they say,’end-time things.’ A Croatian model has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after she allegedly stabbed her identical twin sister following an argument they both had over a man that they both liked.

Sara Grkovic, 22, and her twin Dajana lived together with their mother in the northern Croatian port city of Rijeka.

Police were called on Saturday night after a violent row in which Sara plunged a kitchen knife into her twin sister leaving her critically injured and fighting for her life.

One neighbour told local TV: ‘They were apparently arguing about a man that they both liked. He seems to have settled down in a relationship with Dajana and Sara was not happy about it.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, critically acclaimed Nigerian novelist and award-winning author of Americanah ​ has been nominated for a Grammy award for her feminist-inspired collaboration with American entertainer Beyonce, on her 2013 track “Flawless.”

Following her TEDx talk on why “We Should All Be Feminists,” Beyonce incorporated the writer’s essay into her single, which further brought more life to her craft.
