US Releases Presidential Election Calendar

Americans would elect the 45th President of the United States on Nov. 8, 2016, and the winner of the presidential election would be sworn into office on Jan. 20, 2017.


The Republican and Democratic parties are selecting presidential nominees for the 2016 general election.

Important dates in the nominations and election as released on Friday in Washington, indicated that on Sept. 16, there would be the Republican Party candidates debate, at Simi Valley, California.


It said on Oct. 13, the Democratic Party candidates debate, would come up at Las Vegas, Nevada.

On Oct. 28 also the Republican Party candidates’ debate would come up again at Boulder, Colorado.

On Monday, September 14, the Old Bailey heard how the 46-year-old Nigerian National was jailed in December 2013 for her part in conning students out of more than £1.5m.

Students were sent emails inviting them to update details on their student loan account via a link to a bogus website. When the site was accessed by the unsuspecting victims, a cyber crime gang gained unauthorised access to their bank accounts, stealing large amounts of money.

Smith-Ajala used her share of the cash to buy products in the UK, which she then shipped out for sale at a wholesaler in Lagos, Nigeria, that she owns. During her trial, Smith-Ajala tried to convince the court that she was running a legitimate business but she was ultimately found guilty of conspiracy to launder money and mortgage fraud.

I Poured Hot Water On My Madam To Teach Her A ‘Lesson’- 17-Year Old Maid

A 17-year-old house maid, Esther Abiodun, has been arraigned before a Lagos State magistrates’ court for allegedly pouring hot water on her employer, Alhaja Dupe Iba Agba, while she was asleep.

Abiodun was arrested by the police from the Adeniji Adele division, Lagos Island and arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrates’ court on a two-count charge of felony to wit, unlawful pouring of hot water on her employer’s body occasioning grievous bodily harm.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Philip Osijale, informed the court that the accused committed the offence on 14 September, 2015 at her employer’s residence located at 20/21, Osho Street, Lagos Island a day after she secured the job as a house maid.

Nigerian Army Reopens Primary School In Gwoza

To further assist returnees and other Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) with education of their children, the Nigerian military has reopened a coeducational Primary School in Gwoza, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno.

The military in conjunction with other security agencies and other security stakeholders have placed adequate security measures to ensure the pupils and teachers safety and security. Already classes have commenced and the turn out was quite impressive.


The reopening of the primary school in Gwoza is significant as the eradication of western education is part of the aims of Boko Haram in their murderous campaign of terror.

Monju Begum, a 40 year old Bangladesh woman stopped an alleged rapist in his tracks when she reportedly cut off his anaconda and then took it to police as evidence. According to police, Begam’s neighbor, Mozammel Haq Mazi, forced his way into her shanty and began sexually assaulting her when she stopped the attack by cutting off his anaconda.

She then placed the evidence into a polytene bag and took it into police as proof that Mazi had attempted to rape her (if he only knew that she was related to Chuck Norris..hehehehehe). “It is quite an unusual incident. As far as I am aware, this is the first time that a woman has brought a severed anaconda to the police station as evidence,” said police spokesperson Abul Khaer.

“We will arrest him once his condition gets better,” said Khaer. Mazi denied the allegations telling investigators that the two were having an affair. “Recently she suggested that both of us can go settle down in Dhaka,” said Mazi. “I refused and told her that I cannot leave my wife and children, so she took revenge on me.”

Doctors say the man’s anaconda will not be re-attached.

Osinbajo Lambasts Northern Leaders

Vice President Yemi  Osinbajo says the present crop of northern leaders is responsible for the backwardness of the region, saying they have abandoned diligence and selfless service and resorted to personal aggrandizement, Vanguard reports.

Osinbajo made the remark at the opening ceremony of Northern Reawakening Forum (NRF) Summit, held under the theme “Building a Safe, Secure and Economically Inclusive Northern Nigeria” and held at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, on Saturday.

He regretted that the elite had jettisoned the foundation set by the founding fathers, leading to the challenges confronting the country.

Awolowo Is Greater Than Tinubu, They Can Not Be Compared- Bakare

Pastor Tunde Bakare of Latter Rain Assembly has said people who compare Late Obafemi Awolowo and Bola Tinubu really no little or nothing about history, especially talking about the boundaries Awolowo broke. In an interview published in the second edition of The Interview magazine, Bakare explained, Yorubas can only have one Awolowo at a given time, while there are so many Tinubus out there.

“What major river did he (Tinubu) cross?” Mr. Bakare fired back when asked by his interviewer if the former governor was not qualified to take the place of the sage who is widely described as the last authentic leader of the Yoruba.

This is so sad!..Relatives of 29-year-old graduate of Anatomy, Dr. Adedayo Adewumi, have been thrown into confusion following his disappearance.

It was gathered that Adedayo, a first time visitor to Lagos, went missing on August 27 after he step out of the house for fresh air.

The family told Punch correspondent that Adedayo came to Lagos State from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on August 22 and was staying with some family members on Alawode Street, Kilo, in the Surulere area of the state.

Adedayo was said to have stepped out of the house on the fateful day for fresh air after a power outage. He was said to have left the house without his cell phone.
