Stay In Your Party Or Form Opposition Party, APC Leader Tells Defectors

The National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, John Oyegun yesterday has said he expects politicians now defecting to APC because it has all of a sudden become the winning party to stay in their parties for the good development of democracy in the country. Oyegun says the only reason why politicians are defecting to APC is because their party has lost, and it is still not a good reason for them to defect. Oyegun spoke to journalists shortly after casting his vote yesterday in Benin City, Edo State, where he expressed his self on the defection issue. Here’s what he said;

“Many opposition party members have defected to APC just because they lost out, that is not good for political development. One would have advised that opposition members should stay where they are, and form a formidable opposition party.” Mr. Oyegun said.

Mavin Record Artiste, Reekado Banks Reveals What He Did To Survive

As a prominent young Nigerian artiste, Reekado Banks has worked with the cream of the Nigerian music industry including Don Jazzy, Illbliss, Tiwa Savage, Olamide, Korede Bello, Di’Ja and Wale. The story of his rise to prominence however, has not been smooth, as the Mavin Records recording artiste disclosed during a #MySuperStarStory interview

Born Solomon Ayoleyi Hanniel, the Ondo State indigene revealed that after informing his parents of his intention to pursue a career in music and getting their blessing, he had to hawk blenders in traffic and work as a manual labourer at a construction site in a bid to earn some money to use to record.

He also revealed that at one point, a lecturer at the university told him that he will never make it after preventing him from retaking a test he missed.

His turning point came with the Mavin Records audition where he was picked out of over 5,000 hopefuls. The dreadlocked act, now popular for his ballad “Katapot” credited this triumph to God. In his words, “There is no amount of sacrifice that was enough to get me something this big.”

Agbaje Votes! Explains Why There Is Low Turn Out Of Voters In Lagos

The Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has said a lot of Lagosians want to come out to vote but they fear being harmed and are also intimidated. Agbaje who says he is sure of victory before voting near his house in Apapa said this to press men about the low turnout at polling units in Lagos.

“There’s a fear because there are reports of intimidation of voters across the state. People are being scared from coming out to vote, so that may affect. There is voter apathy, but I think it’s more of disenfranchisement rather than the apathy. People want to come out to vote but they feel a bit intimidated, saying they will be beaten or harmed. But I still believe that all things being equal, we will get the votes that we need to win this election.”

Oba Of Lagos Threat To Igbos! Chimamanda Adichie Wades In

A few days ago, the Oba of Lagos threatened Igbo leaders. If they did not vote for his governorship candidate in Lagos, he said, they would be thrown into the lagoon. His entire speech was a flagrant performance of disregard. His words said, in effect: I think so little of you that I don’t have to cajole you but will just threaten you and, by the way, your safety in Lagos is not assured, it is negotiable.

There have been condemnations of the Oba’s words. Sadly, many of the condemnations from non-Igbo people have come with the ugly impatience of expressions like ‘move on,’ and  ‘don’t be over-emotional’ and ‘calm down.’ These take away the power, even the sincerity, of the condemnations. It is highhanded and offensive to tell an aggrieved person how to feel, or how quickly to forgive, just as an apology becomes a non-apology when it comes with ‘now get over it.’

President Jonathan's Message To Nigerians Ahead Of Tomorrow's Election

He shared this message on his Facebook wall ...
As Nigeria returns to the polls tomorrow, I encourage all registered voters to come out en masse and exercise their right to vote. I have instructed our security agents to fully facilitate the right of Nigerians to choose leaders of their choice at the gubernatorial and assembly levels by remaining non partisan and ensuring that we all vote in a secure environment.
Because of their sacrifice in securing our nation, we can all be confident to come out and vote our conscience all over the federation. I urge contestants to respect the will of the people as we promote a new Nigeria that is a pacesetter and light bearer in the practice of democratic politics without bitterness. May God bless Nigeria. GEJ
