A teenager from Chicago, USA, reportedly stabbed her 11-year-old sister to death because she felt ‘unappreciated’.
It has been gathered that the 14-year-old girl allegedly stabbed her half-sibling more than 30 times, while the victim was in bed, because the youngster had hit her and was ungrateful for meals cooked for her.
The girl appeared in a juvenile court yesterday charged with first-degree murder.
Prosecutors revealed how the older girl set her alarm early, collected a knife from the kitchen and went back upstairs to her sister’s room at their Chicago home on Tuesday morning.
As a result of the attack the little girl suffered 30 wounds across her neck, arms and chest – and also had three slashes to her face.
According to the prosecution, after killing her sister, the girl immediately called police and said that a ‘Hispanic male intruder’ had broken into their home in Mundelein and stabbed her sister.
However, when police allegedly found strands of the older girl’s hair on the victim, she confessed to the killing, the hearing was told.
Prosecutors are expected to decide in the coming weeks whether the teenager will be charged as an adult.
