How To Search For Jobs Without Your Employer Detecting

Searching for a job while employed brings along some perks; you have an advantage of experience, you don’t have to worry so much about not getting the intended job, and your bank account almost doesn’t deflate since you already have a source of income—provided your employer does not find out.

Knowing how to search for a job without your employer finding out requires a great deal of planning and discreetness as shoddiness in such a search may put you in difficult conversations and even attract severe consequences which can see you kicked off important projects or fired before the time you intend to resign.

I was Molested By A Priest In High School- Lola Omotayo Tells Her Story

This post is not meant to ridicule her, but for you to read and be inspired by the little aspect of her life that she let out at the recently held Kinabuti Dare2Dream Project in Lagos where she was invited to address young girls. Lola felt the best example she could give, was to use a certain aspect of ha life to explain herself better to the girls.

She explained how a priest molested her while in high school, how bitter she was to herself and the reasons she couldn’t tell anyone including her family who loves her so much. She later met another man in life, and the story repeated itself before finally meeting Peter of P-Square and you all know how the story ended.

10 Decisions You Will Not Regret In 10 Years

1.      Leave that abusive relationship: Well this gets tricky if you are married; you must get help at once. Seek help now don’t die in silence. Dial up agencies that take up the cause of women in abusive relationships and get help ASAP. If you are single, sing for joy, because you can always use the door whenever you choose. There is no reasoning out an abusive relationship, not even when a child is involved. Leave first; get into a safe environment with people who genuinely love and care about you. Only then can you make a wise and objective decision. This is never an easy decision to make so I’ll be praying for you, that God gives you strength to do what you must do and do it quickly. Safety first!

Here’s Why You May Never Be Rich (and How To Change That)

What’s the worst thing that could happen if you went totally broke today? This is not a rhetorical question. Take a few seconds to answer it before you read further.

What’s the very worst thing that could happen if you went dead broke today? Think about it for ten seconds.

For most people our age, the answer is something like: “A lot would happen, but it would not totally destroy me.” Why? Because when you’re in your early to mid-twenties, let’s face it— being broke happens, a lot.

And we survive it, because we are still young, with few responsibilities beyond ourselves. The most that would happen is that you move back in with your parents, spend a week thinking about your life, get over it and move on.

Taking Risks
Consider the life of a guy in his thirties. He is probably married with kids or a baby-on-the-way. He has to pay for family food, rent, school fees for his kids, medical expenses for his wife and kids, clothes for his kids, PHCN (or whatever) bills, car fuel, generator fuel, little snacks his kids like, car maintenance and on and on.

Going broke at this time is a disaster.

That’s why the best time to take risks is now.

Life is never going to be easier than this. You will never have more energy than right now. For many of us, we are in the best physical shape of our lives. We don’t have arthritis, severe back pain or any of the health problems older people face.

It will never be easier than now.

The best part of being young is that we have more time on our hands than we’ll ever have. Once you get married, visiting friends becomes a luxury. Your kids fill up your time and thoughts, almost completely. Is that when you want to start your dream business?

Investing For the Future
These are the best years to accumulate compound interest on a retirement investment. The easiest way for most people to get rich is to start early. The time and money we have in our twenties is extremely valuable. Most people who are rich and comfortable in their thirties are that way because of the decisions they made in their twenties. In his book, The Slight Edge, Jeff Olson shows this better than anyone else I’ve read or listened to:

Let’s say you and your best friend are both twenty-four years old. You both […] decide [to put] away $2000 a year into an IRA, so you’ll retire at age sixty-five with over a million dollars.

Your friend starts doing it now.

You wait. You don’t get around to it this year, or next, or the next. In fact you procrastinate for the next six years.

At the beginning of year seven, you ask your friend how his IRA is doing. You are stunned when he tells you that he has finished. After investing $2000 a year for six years at 12%, he’s all set. By the age of sixty-five, the little financial ball he started rolling would have snowballed into over one million dollars, even if he never puts in another penny.

“That’s it,” you decide, it’s time for action. You start putting in your $2000 each year. How many years will it take before you’ve caught up to your friend? In other words by what age will you be able to stop investing your annual $2000 like he did? You can’t believe your eyes when you see the answer.

You’re going to have to keep investing that $2000 every single year until the age of sixty-two. Your six years of procrastination have cost you thirty-three years of investing. That’s twenty-seven more years and $54,000 dollars more invested just to arrive at the same place.

[Note from Uchendu: Naturally, I was shocked at this. So I checked out the numbers myself. They’re correct. You can do this yourself using Financial Calculator app on Android. Set compounding to “Quarterly”.]

Now think of our parents, who live in a time when the Federal Government has handed over pensions to private firms. Some of them didn’t start their pension contribution on time. When they retire, their monthly pension from such firms will be too little for them to live comfortably.

It’s not a beautiful situation.

But we can have a different future if we start now.

"Let's Talk About Sex" By Charly Boy

Sex is wholesome, it’s not meant to be dirty, and it is only the perversion of some wacky human beings that makes it ugly.   Like the paedophiles, otherwise it is a beautiful thing. These days we all need to be careful on how we indulge in sex, because it has become quite a risky business. There are consequences when our sexuality becomes irresponsible.

Lovers, spouses, boyfriends, girlfriends, mistresses and man-whores have been killed because of sex. Homes have been destroyed; great leaders have been disgraced because of it. Yes sex has been a powerful tool for intimacy, murder, blackmail, infidelity, STD, AIDs, etc . That is the downside of sex, the ugly part that we can all do without. Anyway, read the full story here

Outsmart Your Belly Fat

These three simple routines can tighten your abs and help define your waistline. Makeover over your abs, by doing these exercises three times a week.

  • Rotating Sit-Ups

Lie down with knees bent and feet flat on floor. Put hands behind head. Lift head and shoulders off floor and twist torso to the left. Lower to starting position and lift again, this time twisting to the right. Repeat 20 times on each side for one set. Complete three sets.

  • Side Crunch

Start in same position as exercise above; lower knees to the right side. With hands behind head, lift head and shoulders straight up off floor. Pause, then return them to the beginning position. Do two sets of 10 with knees to right side, then lower knees to left side and repeat for two more sets.

  • Plank

Lie on stomach with elbows on floor under shoulders, forearms flat on ground. Engage core muscles by imagining you’re tightening a corset around your midsection. Keeping forearms on ground, slowly lift torso and thighs off floor; torso and legs are rigid. Start with a hold time of 30 seconds and increase it by 30 seconds each week until you can hold this position for 2 minutes without compromising your form.

Managing The Stress Of Change

20140228-215029
Change is well known cause of stress. The discomfort associated with certain changes could range from mild anxiety, depression, adjustment disorder to a full blown mental breakdown. Though some changes intrude our lives as a rude shock, sometimes change is anticipated and this might help in adjusting to it; though it doesn’t completely rule out the accompany stress.
Change Your Perception
Rather than seeing it as a barrier to the routine and familiar, perceive change change as a means to achieving your goals. When properly harnessed, change can be guided to aid growth.

See The Big picture
Sometimes you need to give up something or things to climb higher. Growth itself is associated with change.

Look for Anchors
Most times, all aspects of your life do not experience significant changes all at once. There usually are aspects of your life that remain invariably stable. For example, if the change is going on at work, you may find that anchor in your home or even a trusted friend.

Have Realistic Expectations
Change can be occasionally painful – demanding a sacrificial adjustment on our part and though we should be very optimistic about the outcome of change, staying real could help you cope better with the negatives so much that it doesn’t become over whelming.

Increase Your Capacity to Cope With Change
Undergoing the process of change can be stressful. To fully harness the process of change rather than wish it away, anticipate change. It somehow keeps you ahead, thereby reducing the emotional response that is usually provoked by change.

“Don’t Be a Woman That Needs a Man” – Actress Stephanie Okereke-Linus

Hi ladies :

The words in the picture above mean a lot and I think it’s something we should all take seriously.
Many times as women, we tend to feel incomplete without a man by our side and would go to great lengths to ensure we don’t remain “single”. I know that feeling.
But it’s also important we do not express our vulnerability or sound too desperate that we forget to build ourselves up as individuals. Sometimes, we give up our lives, our careers, our dreams for the desires of a man and leave our own self worth and fulfillment aside.
I am not trying to undermine the importance of men in our lives. Our husbands, our partners, our relationships are very important and sacrifices can, and should be made sometimes. However, I’d just like to remind us today not to forget who we really are.
I know its hard, especially for women who have reached a certain age, not to feel incomplete without a man in their lives. But please, do not lose track of your dreams. When you build yourself and are proud of the person you are, you will naturally attract good men who would be inspired by your success and treat you with love and respect.
I do hope this inspires someone today.
Have a great day!

Clear Signs That He Loves Spending Time With You

1. MAKES THE EFFORT
If he voluntarily tries to make plans with you, he wants to see you. He wouldn’t ask you to hang out if he wants nothing to do with you. One of the signs that he loves spending time with you is that he asks you to hang out, or clears his schedule when you ask him to hang out. Chances are that he leads a busy life. If he finds the time to be with you, he cares.

2. SAYS SO
If he says that he enjoys hanging out with you, take him for his word. Why would he lie? It takes a lot for someone to admit that they care about another person. If he says that he misses you when you’re not around, don’t doubt him.

3. INVOLVED WITH FRIENDS
If he asks you to meet his friends, he wants to show you off. You wouldn’t invite someone you dislike to meet your best pals, would you? If he wants you to meet his buddies, he thinks that you’ll all have a good time together. A group gathering is a great sign that he loves having you around.

4. KEEPS IN CONTACT
When you haven’t seen him for a few days, he texts or calls you. He doesn’t like being apart from you, so he finds a way to contact you. This means that he likes having you in his life. If he didn’t want you around, it would be easy for him to push his phone aside. However, he’s contacting you, because he can’t stand spending his days without you.

5. LOTS OF LAUGHTER
If the time you spend together is full of laughter, he obviously enjoys hanging out with you. Some people like long, deep conversations and others prefer moments of silence. However, there’s not one person who doesn’t like laughter. If you never run out of things to joke about, he’ll never get tired of being around you.

6. BRAGS ABOUT YOU
He could easily keep your time spent together a secret. So if he tells all of his friends about your outing, it must have gone well. No one brags about their horrible night. If he’s always mentioning you in conversations to his friends, he likes you. He’s more than happy to spend as much time with you as possible.

7. NEVER CANCELS
Once in a while, it’s okay for him to cancel on you. Things are bound to come up that he won’t be able to escape. However, if he typically never cancels your plans, he’s excited to see you. There are hundreds of excuses he could use for avoiding you. If he doesn’t use them, he wants to see you as much as you want to see him.
It’s natural to worry about not being wanted, but chances are that your crush loves being around you. Is there a guy in your life that you absolutely love spending time with? Is he your boyfriend or just a close pal?

SOCIAL MEDIA TIPS ALL WOMEN SHOULD TAKE NOTE OF!

I came across this article online and i hope we all learn from it.
We've made social media mistakes. It’s part of life, and yes, though the Internet is a permanent deal, luckily, someone else will most likely top your snafu in the next couple of days. However, that doesn’t make it unimportant to be sure you use caution when using social media, even when it doesn’t seem like a big deal. To be responsible, be sure you keep some of these social media tips in mind. They can keep you from hurting others, embarrassing yourself, losing your job, hurting your brand or business, ruining friendships and even relationships. Don’t get in a panic now, just keep these tips in mind and you’ll be just fine to use Facebook with no worries!

1. DON’T ADVERTISE YOUR ISSUES
One of the biggest social media tips is not to advertise your issues to other people. Perhaps you’re going through a life crisis and also have a business you promote online. Whatever you do, do not post your problem through social media. It hurts your brand or business, even if it’s not related to the username you use. People don’t want to read about other people’s drama on social media. They may find it entertaining, but won’t find it attractive. If you’re not the owner of a brand or business, consider opting out of posting your issues online anyway. People are seen as high drama people when they do this, and it’s just not an attractive quality either way.

2. DON’T GLOAT
Another tip to avoid is constant gloating. People see this as arrogant, and can often be offended by you constantly doing so. Remember, social media is about connecting with people, and those people who are always gloating aren’t usually people any of us want to associate with on a regular basis.

3. USE IT MORE
The more you use social media, the better you’ll become at using it smartly. You’ll also learn the best times to post things you need quick attention to, along with how to utilize each social media source and site you use. If you’re new to using it for a business purpose, don’t be overwhelmed. Just start using it more, and trust me, before long, you’ll be a pro!

4. RELATIONSHIP PROBLEMS
Aside from personal issues, relationship stuff is a whole other issue. People who advertise their relationship problems or complaints are seen as immature. No matter how upset you are in the heat of the moment, don’t post your relationship problems online.

5. CRITISISM
As a woman in today’s society, it’s important not to criticize other people online. It makes you seem lacking in class, unsophisticated and it’s not attractive to men, possible employers, or customers, acquaintances, etc. Don’t advertise criticism you might have for someone or something online. There’s nothing to gain from it, and social media shouldn’t be used as something to express your anger for.

6. USE IT TO PROMOTE GOOD
One tip for what you should do on social media, is to promote good things. This includes charitable outreach suggestions, tips for others, encouraging others, posting positive quotes, or using it in a harmless way to promote your business or brand. Social media is one of the best, and definitely the fastest, way to spread the message about something positive. You’ll get help faster, quicker, and more attention this way, and people will look at you in a better light for posting something that promotes good, than for something negative.

7. POST TIPS AND TRICKS
Another piece of advice for women on social media, is to post tips and tricks for people. Whether about saving money, helpful websites, or about lifestyle tips in general, people love reading this online. Plus, it will make your social media name more well known, and better yet, well known for something helpful. All that stuff on Pinterest that really works that you’d love to share? Yes, that’s great stuff! Post it, share it and help others embrace your tips and tricks.
8. LEARN MORE
Women should know more about social media, and how to use it for their benefit. It isn’t just about socializing, but also about utilizing one of the best communication tools we now have access to. Take classes online about social media, read blogs, forums, or search websites like this one for tips. The more you learn about social media, the more you can benefit from it.

9. LOOK FOR GROWTH
You should also be using social media to look for growth, whether through work opportunities, community activities, or activities you might like to enjoy. You could also use it to look for savings, lifestyle tips and more. I’ve found so many helpful resources online through social media that I wouldn’t have found elsewhere. This makes it a truly valuable asset that everyone should use more often.
Social media can be a great thing and a terrible thing. It’s all in how you use it, just like anything else. Remember, the web is completely public, and anything you post is not just yours anymore. Use it smartly and responsibly. Do you have a tip for using social media I should know about?

Christmas Present Ideas For Eight Types Of Mother-In-Laws

20131220-111216.jpg

1.FAMILY GAL
Ideal Gift: Fancy Photo Album, Photographs
In case your mother in law goes all happy-happy-joy-joy whenever she is presented with the opportunity to dump a truckload of photos in front of someone and spend the next couple of hours discussing each and every one of them like a it’s a freaking Modigliani, getting her a photo album, digital photo frame or a booked family photograph session is definitely a step in the right direction. Get her a photo album even if she refuses to collect or show any of your photographs and make sure it’s a gorgeous one but skip the photo session or arrange the date and time in advance just to make sure the session won’t “accidentally” clash with your work schedule.

READ: President Barack Obama’s Speech At Nelson Mandela’s Memorial Service

To Graça Machel and the Mandela family; to President Zuma and members of the government; to heads of state and government, past and present; distinguished guests – it is a singular honour to be with you today, to celebratea life unlike any other. To the people of South Africa – people of every race and walk of life – the world thanks you for sharing Nelson Mandela with us. His struggle was your struggle. His triumph was your triumph. Your dignity and hope found expression in his life, and your freedom, your democracy is his cherished legacy.
It is hard to eulogise any man – to capture in words not just the facts and the dates that make a life, but the essential truth of a person – their private joys and sorrows; the quiet moments and unique qualities that illuminate someone’s soul. How much harder to do so for a giant of history, who moved a nation toward justice, and in the process moved billions around the world.

10 Steps to Rocking Your Dream Job Interview

Interview-handshake-620x480

Prepare, prepare, prepare!

Preparation is the only thing you have total, 100% control over, says HR expert and consultant Lucy Cherkasets of Clarity Media Group (she’s interviewed more than a thousand people, so she would know!) Don’t just assume you can wing it. Research the company and the person interviewing you and practice your answers.

“Tell me about yourself.” Don’t answer this by trying to cram your entire life story into a two-minute spiel. “This should be your cue to tell me why you’re at this table,” Cherkasets says. Be friendly but focused, narrowing in on the aspects of your personality that make you perfect for this job.

5 Ways To Put Yourself First

1.Sleep in! Sleeping 7 to 8 hours a night makes you less likely to gain weight
2. The next time your pedicurists asks if you’d like a foot rub, don’t ask “How much extra” just say ye, and enjoy it. Massage reduces anxiety.
3. You know that adjustment you make to your hair when you get home from the saloon? Tis’ the season to show your stylist how to hook it up exactly how you like it before leaving your chair.
4. Think about everything you did last holiday season and how tired you were by New year’s Day. Now think about not ding quite so much.
5. Accept a friend’s offer to pay for lunch. Be agreeable when a co-worker asks if you need help on a project. People want to do nice things for you. Let them!

Inspirational: Failure, your inspiration for success

Hey Lovelies
If you have failed before you will know exactly how hard the ground can be. When you fail, you'd learn how to look inwards to find that driving force that can keep you going. You should not take it as an excuse to stop trying.
I have known failure, and I've also known success, I know the difference.
When ever you hit rock bottom, do not see it as the end of the road, rather see it as what you need to learn to avoid. Really, how can you learn to avoid something you don't even know? You have to be able to look it in the face, recognize it and remind yourself that isn't the way you should be heading.
I've paid my dues. Before I learnt the rudiments of attaining success, I knew the pains of failure. Now I know it exactly when it tries to hover around, looking for a warm habitation to settle and I kick it right at the spot.

The Misunderstood Business Of Nigerian Music; The Wande Coal Case Study

By Temi Babatunde
Temi Babatunde is a music producer turned trained entertainment lawyer of Nigerian descent but based in South Africa

There is no gainsaying that the Nigerian music industry is nowhere close to having structures like its counterparts in the US, UK or other developed countries. However, one could argue that the ‘haphazard’ structures record labels have here have produced some of the most successful artists Africa, and indeed the world, has seen in recent times.

Despite that, there seems to be a common trend of artists being raised from obscurity by record labels, groomed to success, and then same turning around to desert those labels under the most unamicable circumstances.

Alliances are key in any business, especially in one as harsh as the entertainment industry where who you know often determines how far you go, regardless of your talent (or lack of it).

How To Avoid Career Blunders

By Eno Jerry

Eno Jerry is a Human Resource Manager, God fearing and happily married. I read this article and I can assure you would benefit from this cause I just did.

How To Avoid Career Blunders

  1. Understand You: What are you good at doing or what do you enjoy doing? That should form your career choice or guide you in choosing a career path. Don't be too quick to pursue a career not meant for you, especially while unemployed.
  2. Job Hopping: Switching jobs too frequently makes a bad impression to your employer. You come off to an employer as someone who lacks commitment, reliability, perseverance and a bit self-centered.
  3. Look Beyond Money: Don't choose a career because it pays more with no growth opportunities. The charm of money fades away over a period of time, while career growth and skill enhancement takes you high.

TARA FELA- DUROTOYE -Empowerment Culture

“When we want to help the poor, we usually offer them charity. Most often we use charity to avoid recognizing the problem and finding the solution for it. Charity becomes a way to shrug off our responsibility. But charity is no solution to poverty. Charity only perpetuates poverty by taking the initiative away from the poor. Charity allows us to go ahead with our own lives without worrying about the lives of the poor. Charity appeases our consciences.”
― Muhammad Yunus, Banker to the Poor: Micro-Lending and the Battle Against World Poverty
These words of Muhammad Yunus got me thinking and for many reasons, setting out to create a brand that empowers people, I find myself looking to satisfy what the true meaning of Empowerment will be for our part of the world. I have since found, that simply giving money or other material supply to the poor is not empowerment.

Time Management 101

1.       Don’t run on empty. Start each day with breakfast, no matter how light it is; it gets you going and puts you in the right frame of mind to effectively execute your plans for that day.
2.       Have a ‘To do’ list. With the advent of smart phones, it’s easy to keep a digital ‘To do’ list on your phone and relieve your brain of the burden of storing all that information; you’re then free to focus on the actual execution of the tasks.
 3.        Assign a realistic priority rating to each task on your list.  You can group  task simply needs to be done by the end of the day or perhaps the following day. your tasks into LOW, MEDIUML and HIGH priorities, using colours like REDAMBER and GREEN to code them. For example, a Priority GREEN task needs to be done immediately, whereas a Priority AMBER
4.       Concentrate on the task at hand and don’t lose focus. Take it ‘a task at a time’ and ‘a day at a time’. Once today’s tasks are completed, mark them as done and proceed to tomorrow’s tasks. Make the preparation of the following day’s list your final task for each day.
