Production To Start Next Year On Tupac's Biopic
Many people hear of Tupac but have no idea who this epic rapper is except what they can find on his Wikipedia page, but next year, Morgan Creek Productions and Emmett Furla Films would give you an opportunity to know a little more about the late musician.
A movie about the life of Hip hop god Tupac is slated to begin shooting in spring of 2014. Producers and financiers from Morgan Creek and Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films, including Randall Emmett, whose production credits include End Of Watch mand 2 Guns, had a reception in Santa Monica, California last week to announce the news
The film has been on hold since 2011, when Morgan Creek and Tupac's mother, Afeni Shakur, engaged in a legal battle over the biopic. The company sued Tupac's mother, claiming she had signed over the rights to Tupac's music and story, and then tried to continue negotiating for creative control of the project, billboard.com says. The situation was settled out of court and Shakur is now an executive producer of the forthcoming project
No actors has been identified as slated to appear in the film. On the film's IMDB page, no cast and crew is listed, other than the production staff and the film's writers.
In September, Morgan Creek Productions and Emmett Furla Filmsissued a press release that the biopic would be produced by James G. Robinson, David Robinson and LT Hutton, along with Randall Emmett and George Furtla. That press release said that the motion picture would be filmed in Atlanta and that it would be centered on the life of Tupac, with the press release referring to Pac's "politically charged lyrics, inspired by his parents' activism as Black Panthers in the '60s and early '70s, condemned governmental intrusion in black communities."
Tupac was shot in Las Vegas, Nevada, on September 7, 1996. He died six days later. - See more at:
